Dr. Evelyn Diaz D.O.

Dr. Evelyn Díaz is a distinguished ophthalmologist with over two decades of experience dedicated to serving underserved populations in the Dominican Republic and Haiti. 

She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD) in 2001 and completed an Observership in Internal Medicine at Bronx Lebanon Hospital in New York. From 2002 to 2005, she underwent residency training in Ophthalmology at the esteemed Elias Santana Hospital.

Driven by a passion for public health and blindness prevention, Dr. Díaz pursued a Master’s degree in Community Eye Health at the University of London’s London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, International Centre for Eye Health (ICEH), graduating in 2008. 

A certified trainer in the Rapid Assessment of Avoidable Blindness (RAAB), she has contributed to multiple RAAB surveys across Latin America, the Dominican Republic, and
the United States. Dr. Díaz is a founding member of both the Instituto Internacional de la Visión (INVIS) and Fundación Amigos de la Visión—organizations committed to improving access to quality eye care in  marginalized communities.

With over 15,000 anterior segment surgeries performed, Dr. Díaz continues to offer high-quality clinical care while leading outreach initiatives to combat avoidable blindness. She is currently practicing at Centro Láser in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
