March 3rd to the 8th 11 VOSH Southeast members from the USA arrived at the JOSE MARIA CABRAL Y BAEZ Government Hospital in Santiago D. R.
Tuvimos 3 VOSH Dominican Republic teammates work with us Dr Enyel Rodriguez and two of his assistance, also we were blessed to have 10 Ophthalmology residents from the hospital there every day to support us they were awesome we could not have done it without them the four surgeons in our team completed 146 Cataract and Pterugium surgeries in 5 día.

To give Eyecare to the indigenous people that live in the jungles near there. We will be traveling by four wheel drive vehicle to different schools in the jungle and by boat to the islands in the Gulf of Honduras.

Due to the increasing cost of product and shipping, VOSH Southeast must make some billing and procedure changes.
Primero, we need to end the free reader program. Second, we need to discontinue stocking of -4.50, -5.00, -5.50.
Frames, Sunglasses, Pediatric Frames, Adult Blue Blockers, Cloth Masks & Cloth Cases are available at no charge.
You are responsible for the cost of shipping and shipping boxes at $2.50 cada.

Negative spheres are available at $1.50 each in sleeves of 50.
Sleeves contain one diopter only.
We stock 0.50 thru 4.00 quarter diopter in both and maintain a stock of 700 cada.

We will bill you via email invoice and Ship by FedEx once payment is received.

como enfermera, Siempre había estado interesado en hacer algún trabajo misionero.. En noviembre 1994, Me uní a un optometrista local para una misión de atención oftalmológica de VOSH Ohio en Honduras..
Me enganché! Actualmente estoy coordinando una misión para abril. 2024, haciendo así que mi servicio para los desatendidos continúe 30 año.
A veces creo que obtengo tanta satisfacción de las misiones como los pacientes., cuando pueden ver claramente por primera vez. Mi gratitud proviene de la expresión de sus caras., los abrazos dados y la sensación general de servicio que brinda nuestro equipo. Es una lección de humildad colocarnos en el entorno de aquellos a quienes servimos., aunque sea por un corto período de tiempo. Salimos con una sensación de comprensión de cómo viven otros en diferentes culturas..
Comencé a coordinar estas misiones en 1997, cuando nuestro optometrista local no pudo continuar con su trabajo misionero. Esto se convirtió en mi pasión y es difícil pensar en retirarme., debido a múltiples cumpleaños. He tenido la suerte de servir a los de África., Europa Oriental, Centro y Sudamérica, Haití y el Caribe. que gente tan maravillosa he conocido, tanto en estos países como junto con miembros del equipo provenientes de todo EE. UU.. y de hecho algunos de otros países para formar máquinas bien engrasadas.
Publiqué un libro de memorias sobre estas misiones en 2016. El nombre es “Misiones de perseverancia al mundo” de Barbara Plaugher..
Gracias a VOSH por permitirme ser parte de esta gran organización y traer tanta satisfacción a mi vida..

Para cualquiera que esté interesado en hacer turismo mientras está en Zambia, ofrecen excelentes lugares turísticos: safaris a pie en las Cataratas Victoria, donde podrá ver los cinco grandes animales de la jungla.. Algunos miembros del equipo se quedarán unos días para hacer algunas giras si estás interesado..

During COVID, many countries changed their practices and policies to medical care. Nicaragua made a number of significant changes to their governance, including medical care. VOSH Southeast had taken a hiatus in vision clinics in Nicaragua for a number of years due to new governmental regulations and expectations that can not be met. En 2022, Nicaragua canceled over 1,000 NGO’s which includes organizations providing medical care. Later in the year, they put more strict language around these restrictions and Nicaragua no longer allows any foreign entity to provide medical services.
This has been detrimental to the people of Nicaragua who must rely solely on the government for care if they can not afford private medical care. VOSH Southeast has discussed this new mandate with other VOSH chapters, in-country NGOs and in-country medical providers. All are in agreement that this change is intended to be permanent and it may be many years before this policy is changed. Desafortunadamente, this means VOSH Southeast will not be able to host vision clinics or surgeries in Nicaragua for the forseeable future. We will update our volunteers if policies change.
